I AM…so happy and grateful…

“In the beginning was the word.” Genesis

Hypnotists understand the power that words have to powerfully impact upon your life. The most important words being “I am” followed by anything else. “I AM” has incredible creative power.

Hypnosis teaches that the subconscious mind, which controls all habits and automatic behaviors, is constantly listening to everything that you say. Through repetition, words program the subconscious, and that subconscious programming leads you to be inclined to do or not do, to notice or not, to just happen to be in the right time and place for whatever you have programmed into your inner mind to occur for better or worse.

Yet how often instead of deliberately helping yourself, you identify with the negative by saying anyway “I am ___ (sick, broke, tired, burnt out, overwhelmed)” etc. And even though I know better, I catch myself doing it too.

I have found a helpful antidote through the phrase

“I AM so happy and grateful that ___.”

The moment I say that I am happy and grateful I notice that it truly starts to shift my mood. Then I follow with more statements, quickly listing a bunch of things that do, in fact, make me happy, or for which I am genuinely grateful. I start with statements that I honestly believe. In starting with the easy things, it sets up the right frame of mind for me then to shift gears on those areas that need help or in which I need to manifest a positive outcome. It is important, however, to state these other things in a way in which you can believe them. Saying something you think is impossible will only backfire.

First, I start with anything is easily true for me:

“I AM so happy and grateful that it’s a beautiful day.

“I AM so happy and grateful that the sun is shining.

“I AM so happy and grateful that the flowers are starting to bloom.

“I AM so happy and grateful to live in this beautiful place.

Then I make statements to shift my attitude in a positive way on a challenge I need to resolve:

“I AM so happy and grateful that I have reliable, capable help to ____ at a price I can easily afford.

“I AM so happy and grateful that I quickly attract the very best tenants into my property at ____ Street.

Finally, I visualize it as done and soak up the good feelings of that happy completion.

Personal Story

Years ago I was sponsored to teach throughout India. On a day off I went to a botanical park. The cab driver dropped me off at the entrance and said that I should walk straight through the park and he would meet me at the exit. Fine.

So I walked through this delightful but huge gated park. When I had enough, I went out the exit upon which the gate locked behind me. However, there was no cab driver. So I had to walk all around the outside of the park back to the entrance and try again.

This time I saw a fork in the path, and took it. Sure enough, there was another exit, and out I went. Again the gate locked behind me, and, you guessed it – no cab driver. So for the second time I walked around the fence back to the entrance, again looking for yet another exit. Found it, and hooray – lots of cabs. Unfortunately, not mine. The cabbies said that my driver got tired of waiting and left. So, once more I walked around the perimeter back to the entrance whereupon they kind attendant who luckily spoke English called my hotel and sponsor.

While I was angry, tired, hot and thirsty, depressed, and just fed up, I gritted my teeth and focused on anything for which I could be grateful. “I’m glad I have feet. I’m grateful I can walk. I am glad to be here in India instead of Newark, New Jersey right now.”

For background information, you might read the articles on Roxanne’s blog, but especially those below. See UnlimitedPotentialHealingCenter.com

First of all, all illness has a stress component that weakened the system and interfered with it’s ability to maintain homeostasis. And, in addition, those same stressors may be siphoning off vital energy that is required for healing now. This stress can be physical including chemical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Anything that consumes more energy than it supplies can be considered a ‘stressor’ including ‘good’ or ‘happy’ things like moving into a new home, getting married, having a baby, starting a new job.

While illness may have a genetic component, biologist Dr. Bruce Lipton maintains that each gene can have multiple possible expressions. The environment determines how it is expressed. So why this expression, and why now?

Illness can also have a pathogen component. Yet it has been found that people can be exposed to the same bug, yet not everyone gets sick. Why?

Dowsing can assist you in pinpointing your own vulnerabilities and brainstorm possible ways of addressing them in a can’t hurt way. Roxanne has written an entire book of charts and checklists to assist in locating both in her book, Therapeutic Dowsing and Telepathic Healing.

Dowsing for Mind-Body Healing

When a person is ill, they typically go to a doctor for a diagnosis. But the diagnosis, even if accurate, is not the root cause of the problem. The disease may only manifest after years of the body being abused, of other things being unbalanced or neglected, of the mind or body being overworked, overwhelmed, stressed out, of the spirit disconnected from joy, purpose, fulfillment or loving relationships. The cause may stem from years of unresolved upsets and issues, detrimental beliefs, habits or lifestyle.

In this way, disease is an opportunist taking advantage of some weak spot. And while a person may be good about taking good care of himself in certain ways, he may ignore or even abuse himself in others. For example, he may eat right or exercise but still smoke. It is in the neglected or abused area where the body and health will break down. At the time, he may think he is invincible, that his body will always bounce back, or that for any reason that he has to push himself beyond sensible limits. He may think that his ego, sense of self image, job or family responsibilities or finances depend upon it. He may feel that life is about having fun but then interpret ‘fun’ in some self-destructive way. He may think that he has plenty of time to get serious about his health in some far distant tomorrow. Then tomorrow comes and the piper wants to be paid.

Think of it this way: a house may be burglarized because it was easy— by all appearances, no one was home, the door was unlocked, or a window was left open. And while there was an alarm system, it may not have been turned on. Closing the window now does not bring back what was stolen, but it is still important to do so anyway because it can stop another burglary.

So if you are dealing with a poor health condition, what window of opportunity did you leave open that made it possible? What important nutritional supplements did you have in the house but were not taking? What stress management tools do you know that you were not practicing? What common sense principles or practices or habits that you already know about were you ignoring?

Even when the health problem is obvious as with a broken bone from an accident, that accident may have only occurred because the person was not centered, paying attention or distracted, perhaps because of worries, or lack of sleep. Maybe he was partying late, burning the candles at both ends, or upset about something.

In short, health can never be separated from the other aspects of a person’s life. And healing always needs to consider the bigger picture, not only regarding good basic self care but also mental, emotional and spiritual issues as well.

Dowsing can help locate what is out of balance, what habit, diet or lifestyle changes need to be made. It can pinpoint what mental and emotional issues need to be addressed, and where, when and with whom they arose. Dowsing can set up a priority list of where to start, and which actions/modalities will have the most beneficial effect. It can through intention remove blocks to healing including detrimental beliefs and judgments. It can indicate the degree of progress in resolving problems and stuck energies.

In short, dowsing has phenomenal potential in identifying underlying issues and tracking their resolution. It uncovers what is hidden and infinitely speeds up the process leading to faster healing time.

Mental Entrapment

Your Belief System as a Cage

Throughout my adulthood, I have pondered the power of a group to entrap the minds of those who belong by allowing someone else–a living leader or a dead one or even a group as a whole–to do their thinking and decision making  for them, and to tell them how to live their lives and what action to take on anything. This applies not just to cults, but to religions, politics, philosophical ideologies of all stripes, social media and identity politics (race, gender, sexual identification and orientation, vegan or not, victim of ___, 12 step member, etc).

Group think goes beyond what to believe and how to act. The group can become your very identity and your ‘family’. Consequently, it becomes very threatening if you start to have any questions or doubts. A warning sign of group think is that you are not only told what to believe but honest questions or debate are ridiculed, disallowed or even punished.
A belief by definition is something that is not or cannot be proven, but which is just accepted on faith. It is one thing to accept unimportant things on faith from what you consider a good source until such time as you find a better source. But it is another thing to accept important things on faith without extensive research and thought, and it is even worse to defend such unexamined beliefs by attacking those that do not agree with you.
Another warning sign of group think is that you are told who is’ good’ and who is ‘bad’, who to love and follow, and who to hate or censor, who and what to support, and who and what to protest or punish. Such group is oppressive to personal growth and evolution even if it claims to be spiritual or take the moral high ground. The leaders that endorse group think are into ego, control and manipulation. You might consider the teachings of any such group as propaganda or mind-control. Especially is this true if fear is used to discipline and control members.
It can be comforting to feel certain about things, and for someone else tell you what to do instead of making the hard decisions yourself. It is also very seductive to feel that you are on the ‘right’ side, that you are ‘enlightened’, ‘progressive’, ‘spiritual’ or in any way morally superior to those that have different beliefs or group affiliation. Your ego can get caught in a trap that mistakes your beliefs or group affiliation for your core identity. At that point, it becomes progressively harder to examine and move past those beliefs or to find your core self.

The truth of who you are is separate and apart from your beliefs and the group that shares them!

I was reading an article about a particular religious group. I am not interested in debating the merits of this group or the veracity of this critic, so I have deleted it’s name. But do feel that the comments of this person could well apply to ANY GROUP. Consider his observations when you think about the increasing polarization in our society.
“The problem is that the longer you’re in something …. you start to form your identity around your belief system. Your ego can keep you from undoing this to the point wherein you can’t divorce yourself even from something that is bad for you. It even becomes near impossible to think clearly enough to ask yourself “Am I still a truth seeker, or am I now just blinded by my own beliefs to the point wherein I can’t be objective?” Which is it for you?

The hardest thing for most people is to question …[their group] once they’ve committed to it, especially after a number of years. You’ve got too much invested — friendships, habits, ways of thinking, belief systems and even part of your personal lexicon. Your identity becomes attached to these ideas that are adopted as your own. Thus, you can be a part of a big lie and self deception because your ego just won’t let go. You’re too close to the problem to recognize it. You become entirely defensive. You defend the lies, the plagiarisms, the accusations, the contradictions and the injustices of … [_____] as if they are all an attack on you personally. In the long run this is bad for you because you are being controlled by two forces: 1. the … [_____] organization and 2. your own set of beliefs.
To look at the truth about … [____], including the good and the bad, you have to check your ego at the door. This is way too much for many people to do. But if you’re brave and open-minded and are really a truth seeker, you’ll do it for your own good and the good of others. If not, you’ll continue to be in denial and to live a lie. It’s your own choice.”
================
While everyone needs teachers and guidance, in the final analysis, each of us has take personal responsibility and go inside to that still, small voice for the big issues. It is only there that we will find the answers for ourselves.

Releasing Anger – example

A Practical Application

The bad news is that when you write a book on Releasing Anger Without Killing Anyone, the focus required to write a book may bring about an experience to apply what you know (or think you do). The good news is that you do know something to harness that energy constructively and then move it out of your system more quickly than you did in the past. Think of it as an exam. Do you know what you are talking about or not? Is it just an intellectual or a practical knowing? Is there more yet to learn?

So one week ago a tenant, as she was moving out of my house, left water running. Gallons of water poured down from the second floor bathroom to the first floor living room, and down to the basement below. Rugs, a mattress, books, furniture and other things got wet. Now almost half of the living room ceiling has to be replaced, drywall dust is everywhere. And as much as possible things were boxed up and moved out of the living room along with the furniture. Likewise, two basement rooms were disrupted in order to mop up the water, and get things out of harm’s way. So not only is my living room unusable but so is the dining room and hall, and those two basement rooms as well.

Immediately taking a long view of the problem, I knew that regardless of how much time, energy, work and out-of pocket expense would be involved, regardless of the bad timing and other demands upon me both health wise and financially, the problem would be eventually fixed, and the house would be restored to it’s former beauty. In other words, the problem was temporary. That tenant is now fully gone from my house, and I have a new, wonderful person living here and other workmen helping me clean up the mess.

I knew that I needed to harness the anger into constructive action. So I called people to get the help and advice I needed, and start or supervise the work. I did a lot of the Infinite Intelligence Process to both dump stress and access the wisdom within. I did EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique), dowsing for emotional healing, and meditation because I did not want the anger to poison me or cause me to get more sick. I wanted any possible contributory factors healed. And I also did not want to project my anger back to my former tenant as it would then be a curse on her head. And because I believe that we are all connected, what I send out comes back to me.

I focused on what I had to be grateful for. I asked myself what I could learn and grow from this experience, how I could prevent something like this happening in the future, and what I might have done differently that could have (but not necessarily would have) prevented the damage occurring. In other words, I was actively looking to pull a blessing out of the experience.

Then I wrote a letter to my tenant to get everything off of my chest because she took no responsibility for her actions and was instead blaming me. I felt it necessary that she understand the ramifications of her negligence so she is more careful elsewhere. This stopped the conversations looping in my head.

I hired someone to repair the damage and then paint the entire living room ceiling. I found someone to clean when the construction and painting are done. And I am getting a record of expenses in case I go to court to collect damages. In other words, I did everything I could. Now, it is just a matter of getting the work completed.

I learned long ago that groaning over damage done is a waste of precious energy that you need to stay healthy and address the problem. Complaining to people who cannot help you is one thing as an immediate, very short vent, but counterproductive otherwise. Best to talk only to those that can offer some good information and advice. Blaming her or blaming myself wasn’t going to be helpful. Using the problem as an excuse for not doing something else would also be counterproductive.

I would have loved to had someone just hold me. But since I don’t have a partner, I grabbed a cat and snuggled with him. I sat with my piggies. I hugged my dogs. I looked up at the sky. I picked up and talked to the toads. I noticed some of the abundant sweetness that is on my farm. I remembered that I am loved, that I have meaning and purpose in this world, that this is a beautiful place, and I am choosing to be alive and present.

At other times and places, I may have made love, watched funny movies, gone dancing or done something nice with friends just to discharge energy and regroup. But what is important is that you actively do something. There is always something still left to enjoy and appreciate—even a memory to lift your spirit.

Did I pass? I think so. Will I do things differently in future? Yes. Will I forget the lessons? No. Can what I learned help someone else? Yes, I think so.

Dowsing for Solutions

My father’s influence

I born into an engineering family. My father, who was a mechanical engineer, inventor of roller bearings for General Motors, and occasional instructor for Hyatt GM, taught me early on to work out my problems on paper. He told me to “think negatively towards a positive solution.” In other words, consider your design from all possible angles including things that could go wrong. And if things are already going wrong, redesign to counteract those non desired effects in order to get your desired outcome.

Inventors like my late father are both highly analytical and highly creative—a perfect blend of left and right brain thinking, rational and psychic, logical and artistic, head and heart. This is true with dowsers as well. Dowsing is a balancing of both hemispheres of the brain. The analytical and logical left brain helps you to research the subject at hand—both to clarify exactly what is desired, and the elements that may be causing or sustaining a problem, and those that may lead to a possible solution.

Resolving problems starts first with a recognition that there is a problem and knowing what that is.

My father’s way of thinking applies perfectly to dowsing for solutions to problems and for goal achievement of any kind. Although you may have a clear positive intent of what you want to create, you should also check for and eliminate whatever could sabotage or negatively impact upon that intent. To ignore or deny the negative factors is like putting ice cream (your affirmations and positive desires) on top of horse manure.

Factors to be considered include among others, your gut level belief in yourself, and in your ability to learn and to solve each phase of the project, your belief in the viability of your project, and your allowance of it versus any doubt or fear. Other factors include conflicts, motivation, commitment, endurance, and anything that could be sap your strength, energy, or your ability to follow through.

Determine the likely causative factors to resolve or clear, and any challenges or conflicts that will need to be addressed. Dowse out your priorities and the order in which to tackle them. Set up a strategy for the best course of action to follow. Your analytical mind will assist you to fine tune your dowsing questions. In fact, you can dowse “is this question now worded correctly?”

For any problems you are likely to encounter again, develop dowsing charts and checklists. These are especially useful and time saving in future.

The real problem may not be apparent.

There can be a problem beneath the problem. For example, you may think that the problem is that you ___ (drink/smoke/eat too much). And while that may be true, there can be an unconscious need or wound that is driving it, for example, trauma, pain, boredom, feeling unloved/not good enough/angry/hurt, etc., unable to set healthy boundaries or express your needs to others, difficulty communicating with others, poor stress management skills, ad infinitum.

So the first task is to write out what you think the problem is. Then dowse out:

Is this the real problem? If you get a ‘no’, brainstorm on paper until you find it.

Is there a problem underneath that is either creating or aggravating the problem of ___? If you get a ‘yes’, brainstorm what that might be. Always include the word ‘other’ on your list, and dowse out.

You may want to know when the problem first began, and if it originated with you in this or another lifetime, or if you inherited it from an ancestor. For example, author Dr. Bradley Nelson of The Emotion Code as well as others has found that we frequently carry issues that are passed down on our DNA. [Nelson, by the way, has a helpful chart of non-beneficial emotions that can be located with kinesiology. I use his chart with dowsing instead.]

With dowsing, you may ask if you need to research a particular issue. If you get a yes, it may be helpful to know what players are involved as this can help to refresh your memories and emotions and focus on forgiveness or understanding. You can make or purchase dowsing charts for this purpose. Here is mine, Therapeutic Dowsing and Telepathic Healing.

 36d631736cfeb9bb3142bd858052fa6e

What do you want instead?

Hint—it is NOT to not have that problem on ____. Clarify the positive opposite of what that problem would look/feel like. How would it show up? How would anyone know without you telling them that you solved that problem?

How motivated are you on a subconscious level?

On a scale of 1-10 how much do you want to resolve that problem and achieve your objective on a subconscious level? Is that problem serving a need or secondary gain? Is it protecting you? To what degree will your subconscious mind permit you to solve the problem? I call this your level of allowance. To what degree will it resist? This is your level of resistance.

Dowse this one at a time and get the percentage for each. Ideally, you want to get the resistance (probably a fear) down to zero and the allowance up to 100%. The way to do this is ask your subconscious mind to review everything to do with that problem, and extract the positive learning first. Then ask if you can heal/transmute any fear or resistance. If you get a ‘yes’, then go and do so.

Secondary gain is a benefit that you get out of a problem that the unconscious mind considers of greater importance than the problem itself. For example, an illness can serve to protect you from something that is painful, upsetting or threatening. Or it can provide attention, acts of love and kindness that you crave. [See the article, “Secondary Gain – A Gain From Pain”]

You might also state “I release any belief, perception or judgement that _____” (belief causing the resistance). “I now choose to believe that ___ (positive opposite belief).” Check with the pendulum again on the levels of resistance, and of acceptance.

Is anything else blocking you?

Dowse if you have any other blocks to resolving the problem or achieving your goal. Some people have multiple goals that require more time and energy than are possible to achieve all at the same time. Priorities should be dowsed out. Perhaps all goals can be met in some measure with one being the main focus and another as a hobby or a one time event. Again, you can dowse out the percentage of time to devote to each. Perhaps, all can be met in some measure over a lifetime, or achieved sequentially instead of together. Some people have goals that conflict and will need to set up a hierarchy of values, and do some deep soul searching. If you are consciously motivated, but have unconscious blocks, those blocks will have to be addressed first.

What needs to happen?

Next, determine what has to occur to solve that problem and achieve a real transformation. Once you have clarified what you want, identified the problem and elements to be addressed, and brainstormed possible solutions, it is time for action. This may be through dowsing alone as in mental or emotional healing, or through physical or other action.

Manifesting

Manifesting is the act of creation through joining strong clarity of intent with strong emotion. Positive creation will require an elevated emotion such as love, joy, gratitude, bliss.

Quiet your mind, and drop down into the deepest part of your inner being with clear focused desire to connect with Source — that universal sea of consciousness behind all that is. This is the repository of information, ideas, wisdom and guidance linking all minds throughout time and space. This is the place of pure creation, healing and manifestation where it is possible to alter reality and create miracles. Stay there until you feel a sense of completion – this can be seconds or much longer.

Conclusion

Dowsing is phenomenally valuable in all aspects of problem solving: clarifying intent, aligning with that intent, removing any blocks to such alignment, raising one’s frequency, and connecting with universal consciousness and divine creation to bring about the results you want with greater ease, grace and speed.

The Relationship Between Fear and Depression, Breath and Posture

How You Breathe Can Lessen Fear

A recent study by Christina Zelano at Northwestern University indicates that breathing in through the nose as opposed to the mouth helps a person to respond more quickly to fear and knowing this can help you to deal with it.

“We can potentially use this fact to our advantage. For example if you’re in a dangerous environment with fearful stimuli, our data indicates that you can respond more quickly if you are inhaling through your nose.” ~Christina Zelano

But, what I would add to this is that it is NOT ENOUGH to just breathe through the nose, but to BREATHE DEEPLY and FULLY.

My understanding is that the first reaction of fear is to freeze the breathing mechanism – in other words, to hold the breath. This is the deer in the headlights syndrome while you are evaluating what to do (run/fight or stay in freeze). The fastest way I have found to discharge that fear is then to deliberately take a deep, big breath. Followed by other deep, regulated breaths, the mind quiets down.

Deep Breathing Lessens Depression & Fatigue Too!

As a former classical singer with NYC Opera and elsewhere, I noticed that deep breathing whether through the nose or mouth through the process of singing, dancing will process out the debilitating emotions of fear and depression as well as fatigue. While music also plays a significant part, I am sure this significant improvement has much to do with the increased oxygen reaching the brain. Classical singers while singing, for example, breathe four times as deeply as people at rest. Increased breathing and oxygen intake through any form of exercise will put you in a better frame of mind and in a more emotionally balanced state where you are able to think more clearly and make more rational decisions.

Posture is Important

Deep breathing is aided by an erect posture that allows the rib cage to expand. Then a person must train themselves to keep the chest still while breathing  deeper down that fully engages the diaphragm. This means that the belly moves in and out with each breath.

Good posture makes better breathing possible, and greater oxygenation of the brain allows a better processing of emotions. But posture is by itself relevant to mood and energy levels. Multiple studies indicate that good posture, holding the head erect and eyes looking forward rather than down [downward facing eyes puts a person into their emotions] lessens depression and fatigue! There are multiple such articles cited on the internet indicating that simply choosing to alter body posture to a more upright position is a quick shortcut to improve mood and energy levels.

Rearrange the Furniture to Rearrange Your Life

There is great value in moving things around.

I started early. My family moved next to the Seymours when I was three and Mrs. Seymour welcomed me onto her enclosed front porch to play with one or more of her four children. But what I found most fun was not the toys but rearranging the furniture and everything else there. I did this almost every day for several years. God rest her most tolerant soul.

What was I doing?

Rearranging the furniture is about seeing other options or possibilities, trying out new solutions, new relationships between you and the environment. It is not necessarily about making anything prettier, more functional, although it may do that. Beyond the benefits of feng shui or getting rid of clutter, simply moving the furniture and decorations makes you relate differently to the things in your space. And this possibly may support your desire to be different, to change, grow or relate differently to the larger world.

It calls upon and develops your spatial perception, which is the ability to be aware of your relationships with the environment around you and with yourself,  “to situate yourself, move around, orient yourself, make multiple decisions, analyze situations and representations of our surroundings and the relationship our body has with it.” CogniFit)

Changing things around helps to make (or when desiring to make) other changes.

For example, when working with smokers to break their habit, I advise that they change all their routines associated with the unwanted behavior because those routines act as a trigger. So, I suggest that they sit in a different chair than the one in which they used to smoke, eat and take their work breaks away from their smoking haunts, drive a different way to and from work, etc.

Author, Joe DispenzaBreaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One says

“You associate your outer, familiar world with who you think you are, by remembering yourself in this dimension, this particular time and space.” Your routines and all your sensory reminders, which include your environment, keep you plugged into your old self that is tied to the conditions that you want to change. He says “we remain plugged into this past self by following a highly routine, unconscious set of automatic behaviors. For example, you probably wake up on the same side of the bed, slip into your robe the same way as always, look into the mirror to remember who you are, and shower following an automatic routine. Then you groom yourself to look like everyone expects you to look, and brush your teeth in your usual memorized fashion. You drink coffee out of your favorite mug,” etc.

However, what he doesn’t mention is that should you change where the bed is located, you automatically have to get up differently. Move your favorite chair, and you are now viewing the room from a different perspective. You are changing the flow of energy not just in your space, but in your life.

Change something to change something else.

When ending a relationship, I found getting a hair cut was an appropriate symbolic act to let go of the old. Getting new clothes, a new look was part of the new me, the me separate from being identified as part of a couple, that was going to venture out again. Likewise, moving, going someplace new, traveling to a different culture where people have their own ways of relating to life, helps you to reevaluate your own values, priorities, lifestyle, etc. It is helpful as a separation from the old way of life and what you hope to be the new one. Then there is an old Jewish folk saying:  “Change your location, change your luck.”

But for right now, for those unable or unwilling to move or travel in order to get a fresh perspective, a new take on their life, the immediate, easy solution is just to rearrange the furniture.
