Regaining Your Center In Times of Stress

Free Online Seminar, Saturday, April 6 at 4 PM Eastern (3 PM Central, 2 PM Mountain, 1 PM Pacific)

In a time of rapid change, increasing polarization of society, & breakdown of institutions, how can you find solid ground upon which to base your life, guide your decisions & plan when the world as you knew it is gone & the future is very much in flux?

What is the rock you stand upon? How can you regain your sanity when you start freaking out? Or release anger without killing anyone? How can you take the stress of massive change to grow & heal, & by extension to help to heal the world around you as well? In short, how can you take the chaos as motivation to tap into the wisdom within, work on what needs to be addressed starting with the self, & to find & enhance the strength inside to ultimately turn it into a blessing?

At age 4 like the Lucy of Peanuts cartoon fame, Roxanne Louise started counseling playmates, & was overheard telling another 4 year old that she was “Master of Herself”. Roxanne’s life since has been a personal & vocational quest to understand people, & for various methods that can help especially in the realm of mental & emotional healing & stress management. As in the saying “be careful what you ask for”, much of her knowledge & wisdom has been gained the hard way. During this presentation, she will go over many quick & easy ways she has found effective to reduce stress & turn problems into compost for personal healing & growth.
The Foundation for Mind-Body Research is hosting this free online seminar . Here is a link to their most recent newsletter announcement where you can register.https://conta.cc/3xdvegi . All videos are recorded & are available here: https://www.youtube.com/@FMBRTV/streams

Quick & Easy Ways to Reduce Stress

  • PUTTING THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE
  • BREATHE DEEPLY – EXERCISE OR DO SOMETHING PHYSICAL – Any physical activity will get oxygen to your brain so you think clearer at the same time that you discharge stress out of your muscles. Some activities such as singing, dancing, lovemaking, gardening, cleaning out the garage, have additional benefits such as fun, satisfaction, connection to Nature, enhance your relationship, or provide satisfaction and relief to get a needed project done.
  • CHANGE THE FOCUS OF YOUR ATTENTION – turn your head, look out at the horizon, nature, photos of loved ones, happy times, kids, animals, etc.
  • CONNECT WITH & HUG SOMEONE YOU LOVE – even your pets! Call a friend, get together.
  • COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
  • INVENTORY YOUR STRENGTHS, YOUR ABILITY TO LEARN, SURVIVE & ACHIEVE
  • USE AFFIRMATIONS – Note that affirmations only work if you can believe what you are saying. If you don’t, they will backfire! My favorite is
  • SWITCH FROM FOCUSING ON THE PROBLEM TO THE SOLUTION
  • TURN THE  PROBLEM INTO A GAME, CHALLENGE, OR A POSITIVE GROWTH EXPERIENCE
  • MAKE A DECISION, A FIRM DECLARATION THAT YOU ARE GOING TO TURN YOUR PROBLEM INTO A BLESSING.
    • Question: “How can I turn this into a blessing?”
    • Affirmation: “I turn this into a blessing!”
    • Demand from the Universe: “Turn this into a blessing!”
  • DISTRACT YOURSELF, TAKE A BREAK, GET YOUR MIND ON SOMETHING OTHER THAN YOUR WORRY
  • GO TO WHERE THE PROBLEM ISN’T
  • LAUGH
  • ASK QUESTIONS
  • ASK FOR HELP Extra hands don’t just add to your productivity, they multiply it many times over.  They build energy.
  • PRAY & GIVE THANKS – Note that it is important to only pray for what you want, not what you don’t. Pray for guidance, understanding, clarification, insight, strength, personal character traits, skills, ideas, wisdom, healing, the right kind of assistance for anything. See the problem either moving towards resolution or being already resolved. Give thanks for it already being completed.
  • WALKING MANTRAS – This is my personal shortcut using regular movement and sound to create self-hypnosis and reprogram the mind that I have been teaching for over 30 years. My self-hypnosis book, Your Unlimited Potential has many more listed. Take any short, affirmation that can be spoken in a sing-song rhythm and match it to steady movement like walking, cycling, or using a treadmill. Repeat the phrase over and over for a few minutes to shift your thinking in a positive direction. Some affirmations that work are below. The dots represent switching what you say to the next foot.

Regaining Your Sanity When You Start Freaking Out!

In times when you are already experiencing trauma or prolonged stress, it is not unusual for one more small thing (the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’ ) to come along and cause you to cross over the line from ‘dealing with it’ in some fashion to going into full melt-down, panic, collapse or just giving up. As the Universe has offered me many challenges in my life, I have had to dig down deep within myself to find a way to dig myself out of the hole in which I found myself. It was the stimulus that had me study psychology, hypnosis, dowsing, EFT, and a wide variety of other modalities. In the process, I found ways that helped me and helped my clients. I use as many techniques as relevant or necessary.

What can you do to head it off when you feel it coming? What can you do once it happens?

I asked this question of a combat veteran, “what do you do when you get really stressed out?” His way of putting things into perspective was “if they’re not shooting at you, it’s not serious.”  And then he said that he does something physical to work off the energy.

So the first remedy to regain your balance is

1. DO SOMETHING PHYSICAL, EXERCISE, or DO DEEP BREATHING

Anything that makes you breathe deeply (working in the garden, shoveling snow, raking leaves, scrubbing the tub, cleaning out the garage, going on a brisk walk or run, singing, dancing, shooting baskets or a golf ball) flushes the stress out of your body, brings oxygen to your brain so that you can think more clearly, and gets your energy moving to offset paralysis and depression. If you choose an activity that brings you joy or a sense of accomplishment, that is a double bonus.

The second remedy is to

2. CHANGE THE FOCUS OF YOUR ATTENTION.

Turn your head, or look up in a different direction. Look up at the sky or out to the horizon.  Look for something beautiful, awe inspiring, funny, cute – flowers, pets, animals, children, a sunrise or sunset.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help.

My help comes from the Lord which made heaven and earth….”  Psalm 121

What do you have in your life that warms your heart or makes you smile or laugh or feel peaceful, safe or protected? You may have photos of loved ones or a place that you visited that was wonderful, or filled with peace and joy. Look at those photos and feel the love of these others, and happy memories.

The third remedy is to

3. CONNECT WITH & HUG SOMEONE YOU LOVE – even your pets!

If you can’t physically hold them, call them. And if they are deceased, close your eyes and imagine them with you, holding you, lifting you up, loving you. I firmly believe we are always connected to those we love.

Years ago, I was performing in Manhattan and getting off the bus in Jersey around midnight. I was so exhausted that I literally had to think “Put one foot in front of another.”  Yet I still had a 90 pound dog that had to be walked when I got home or there would be a pile of mess on the carpet. So I imagined my two deceased grandmothers  as my guardian angels holding me up under each arm pit helping me to walk. That prayer and image indeed gave me strength to do what I had to do.

The fourth remedy is to

4. COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

What do you have to be grateful for today? Do you have a roof over your head, do you have food in the pantry, running water, a hot shower, clothes to wear today? Is the sun shining? Are you breathing, able to walk, able to see? Regardless of what may be happening tomorrow, for today you have life, you have or have had people and things and conditions for which you can be grateful.

The fifth remedy is to

5. INVENTORY YOUR STRENGTHS – YOUR ABILITY TO LEARN, SURVIVE, & ACHIEVE

Think about all the things you have already learned and overcome – learning to walk/talk/read & write & do arithmetic/ride a bike/drive a car, etc. Think about your talents, your ability to learn, experiment and improve, teach yourself things, and start something totally new and get good at it in time. Or think about how you may have moved into a new neighborhood, new job and learned your way around and made new friends, etc.

The sixth remedy is to

6. SWITCH FROM A NEGATIVE THOUGHT TO ONE THAT WILL HELP YOU

Affirmations only work if you can believe what you are saying. If you don’t, they will backfire! Memorize some positive suggestions that resonate with you  and repeat them over and over until you calm down. I have a standard affirmation that I use when discouraged:

“I AM THAT I AM A POWERFUL, SPIRITUAL BEING ENDOWED WITH WISDOM, DIRECTION & PURPOSE.

I HAVE SOMETHING OF VALUE TO OFFER.”

Another affirmation that I frequently use because I believe in reincarnation and have what I believe are memories of many past lives, some of which ended horribly, is

“ON SOME LEVEL, I’M ALWAYS OKAY.”

In other words, whether I am a little Jewish girl living in Munich in early 1940’s, or the best prepubescent teen in a Mayan village during the times of human sacrifice to the gods, or a victim of jealousy or hatred by the priest training me in ancient Egypt, my soul will survive even if they kill my body, and I will be reborn in another one.

Others affirmations that help me are:

7. SWITCH FROM FOCUSING ON THE PROBLEM TO THE SOLUTION

Go from “I can’t” or “it’ll never work” to “If it could work, how would it work”, or “Who do I know that could help me with solving this so that I can create ___  instead?” , or “Who has experience dealing with this before?” Or “who is able to create ____ easily?  What do they know or what do they do to be successful?”

The eighth remedy is to

8. TURN THE  PROBLEM INTO A GAME, CHALLENGE, OR A POSITIVE GROWTH EXPERIENCE

What can I learn from this?” “How can this experience help me to grow?” “Who do I need to be, and what do I need to think or do to experience ___ instead?”

The ninth remedy is to

9. MAKE A DECISION, A FIRM DECLARATION THAT YOU ARE GOING TO TURN YOUR PROBLEM ISSUE, SITUATION or CONDITION  INTO A BLESSING.

Ask the question: “How can I turn this into a blessing?” Or  make a declaration: “I turn this into a blessing!” Or demand it of Universe or the cosmic forces: “Turn this into a blessing!”

The tenth remedy is to

10. DISTRACT YOURSELF

What can you do to totally take your mind off your problems? Make love? Watch a good movie, or comedian, or something else that captures your full attention? Preferably, it should be something that doesn’t just distract you, but which actually makes you feel better, calmer, happier, more resourceful or energized.

The eleventh remedy is to

11. GO TO WHERE THE PROBLEM ISN’T

If the problem is in your house, go outside. If it is in the city, get out to nature. If it is with work, go to lunch with friends, or visit friends after work. Take a vacation or travel to a place with good memories. After you regroup, then go back and tackle whatever you need to do.

The twelfth remedy is to

12. LAUGH

Yes, listen to comics, watch funny things online, and laugh at yourself for getting so stressed out. I sometimes imagine a fat, clown balloon character that flops down at the waist and says:

“Ha, ha, ha, ha, I’ve created more drama. It’s part of the karma I now choose to heal.” (Repeat until you start laughing yourself.)

Years ago I was going through the tremendous stress of a divorce. Unable to function in my office, I went next door to a neighbor on my floor and said “tell me a joke.” He then told me one. I laughed, and with that went to another office on our floor and said “I have a joke for you.” I repeated the new joke, and we both laughed, and then he told me one as well, and I laughed again. I did this over and over again developing a repertoire of jokes that kept me laughing as I couldn’t repeat one without doing so. It got me through.

And thirteenth and fourteenth remedies are related, and so bunched together

13. ASK QUESTIONS & 14. ASK FOR HELP

You don’t have to do anything all alone. Perhaps you know someone, or you know someone who knows someone, or you know how to get physical help, advice, or information online or in a library or from a company or an agency. When I am stuck, I start asking questions. If relevant and if my budget allows, I hire someone.

For example, I have a list of people that can help with various things on a task or an hourly basis whether housework, farm chores, repairs, handyman stuff, strong back lifting, bookkeeping, internet, etc. And what I found is that I get a ton of work done both setting up for my helper, working while they are there, and continuing after they leave. Extra hands don’t just add to your productivity, they multiply it many times over.  They build energy.

Short of funds? Perhaps consider a high school student or barter or a mentoring program. What can you give in exchange? My area has a TIMEBANK program where people donate their services and in receive services on an hour for hour basis. This is a organized form of “I scratch your back, and you scratch mine.”

NOTE: Getting help in ANY area of your life will free up time for you to work in ANOTHER AREA especially those that only you can do.

Finally, the fifteenth remedy is to

15. PRAY & GIVE THANKS

This is the spiritual side of Ask for Help. But only pray for what you want, not what you don’t. Pray for help in dealing with or resolving a problem. Pray for guidance, understanding, clarification, insight, strength, personal character traits, skills, ideas, wisdom, healing, the right kind of assistance for anything. Focus not on the problem as if it is huge as this will manifest more of the same and delay forward movement. Focus instead on that problem either moving towards resolution or being already resolved. Give thanks for it already being completed.

One time when I felt completely betrayed by a neighboring store that was openly attempting to take over my business, I prayed “how can I look at this in a way that doesn’t hurt quite so much?” And I received an analogy that immediately shifted me from grieving to taking appropriate action. I then prayed for another office in a location closer to home, with many things that would make it much better than the office I had. And that happened.

Another time I was again betrayed by a ‘friend’ and colleague who plagiarized a significant portion of one of my books without giving me any credit for the pages of word for word heist. I prayed for understanding, and received a message that it was a pre-birth agreement that would teach each of us something important. This immediately dissolved both my anger and grief over what she had done and allowed me to sever the relationship and take action to notify the professional organizations of which we were both members of this ethical breach.

When my husband told me he didn’t know if he wanted to remain married to me or not, I was so devastated that I prayed to die. Spirit said “not now, later you will have a chance.” So with that I asked, “does that mean that I have to get up off the floor?”  With death now closed as an option, I said that I needed to feel that I was still loved if I was to have the strength to continue living. And love from Spirit did flow into my being and I healed.

On Being Thorough in Therapy

Tracing & Addressing the Origin of Problems

I have been working on trying to understand what underlies human behavior and mental and emotional issues since childhood. At 4 years old, I was overheard telling a playmate “you’re master of yourself”. And while self-mastery is possible as we know of saints and gurus that appear to have achieved it, the 24/7 responsibility to monitor and correct your thoughts, beliefs and judgments, and then healing the emotions that stem from those thoughts — is a major, lifelong task that all too often seems like putting one foot forward but moving two feet back.

In elementary school I started giving advice based on Dale Carnegie’s book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” to my friends who didn’t know how to deal with fellow classmates. It’s a good book. Yet, despite reading a library of helpful self-help books and learning a multiple of therapeutic techniques from multiple modalities over decades.

Deep, personal healing goes beyond the lens of known problems and difficult relationships.

It necessitates tracing the origins of issues and relationships back through previous lifetimes, through family and ancestral lineage, addressing the universal flaws existing within all of humanity such as the 7 deadly sins of pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony and sloth. And it involves healing the pain of what was perceived as missing especially in childhood of love, understanding, acceptance and forgiveness.

The known problems are CLUES to the real cause lying beneath negative repeating patterns.

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE

Initially, when I had a problem, I focused on the current incident or the person with whom I had the problem.  But then when more problems with that person occurred, I had to focus on the relationship as a whole. And when that didn’t stop the problem, I had to consider that the problems with that person might stem with the soul of that person that could go back through earlier and perhaps many lifetimes.

Later when I thought I had resolved the current situation, I noticed that same type of problem happened again, but now with someone else. So, I moved on to clearing the issue around all similar events about which I could remember, and that could involve even more people. Clearing the origin of the issue could involve clearing multiple lifetimes and multiple people and clump together with related issues. Yet, no matter how time consuming to address, once the same sort of problem happens three times, it means a pattern has been established that will only continue to reoccur until it is resolved.

We all know that future generations can be sensitized to specific fears such as that of discrimination or violence by hearing horrid stories of one’s ancestors. But recent research with children of holocaust survivors found that these children were more fearful than Jews from families that had not been in the concentration camps. The study hypothesized that these excessive fears were passed down on the DNA. This correlates with experiments on mice – the specific fears of the parents were transferred down to offspring. Perhaps this is a survival mechanism. But what this means in therapy is that is the need to address the issues experienced by our ancestors as well. Dr. Bradley Nelson has proven in his book, The  Emotion Code, that doing so can have tremendous therapeutic effect.

Further indications of problems passing down the family line is that of a role played in the family such as that of the invalid or the black sheep or the crazy one, or what has been called ‘the family curse’.

Lately, I am following the theory that the source of the problem does not just originate within the self with its own beliefs and judgements and unresolved traumas from this and other lifetimes, nor that of our personal ancestors, but can originate even further back within what we call the “collective unconscious” – in other words, within the shared consciousness of all of humanity, and perhaps other species as well, throughout all of time.

As Dr. Hew Len who popularized Ho’Oponopono said,

“we cannot know the origin of the problem.” Hence, it is helpful to make space for the healing to go wherever it is needed without you knowing where it began.

Dr. Len’s method was to continually pray to heal his own thoughts or consciousness underlying the problem whether he knew what those thoughts might be: “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. I love you. Thank you.” My own wording for this is:

“I’m sorry for whatever is within me, my relatives or ancestors in this or another lifetime that attracted, allowed, caused, contributed to or resonated in any way with this ____ (problem/situation ___of/with ___).

Please forgive me. Please forgive all of us.

I love you ____ [my name  or Creator’s].

Thank you for bringing to my attention what needs to heal within myself. Thank you for bringing healing into this ____ (problem/situation) for the highest good of all concerned. Thank you for correcting any distortion in my consciousness or in our shared consciousness.”

In the collective unconscious are the origins of every wonderful attribute of humanity seen also in the animal kingdom – love, empathy, kindness, protection of the young, joy, etc.. But here too lay the inclination to do harm as well as the wounds from that harm experienced by our ancestors from covetousness and greed, theft, betrayal, control and domination, manipulation, deceit and cunning, disruption and chaos, lies and broken promises, violence, rage and hate, mental, emotional and physical abuse, lust and rape — all traumas replayed over and over again from perhaps the very beginning of mankind. In dealing with the ancient roots of the problem,

I have come to the conclusion that deep healing ultimately requires appealing to something bigger than ourselves– the Divine, the Source of All That Is, the great I AM — in short, prayer is needed with repeated group prayer being the most effective.

“Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of you.”

To resolve what underlay a particular problem, I had to go back to the beginning (wherever that was). Hypnotic regression and past life regression are helpful, but it requires the assistance of another person – something not always possible, practical or affordable. There had to be another way.

In addition to everything else, I work with a large number of unconscious healing modalities of which there are many techniques – my own Infinite Intelligence Process, my way of using pendulum dowsing with specially designed charts, meditation and self-hypnosis, the Emotional Freedom Technique, Emotion Code, Conceptual Therapy, Tapas Accupressure, Neural Linguistic Programming, several hypnotic visualizations, and hypnotic techniques as by A.L. Ward, E. Art Winkler, Ho’Oponopono, and I continue to add more. Dowser Joachim Wippich’s work also deals with correcting unconscious thoughts and may be worth exploring.

My basic intention is to turn all problems into a blessing –

  • a blessing to me for the wisdom and fortitude to be gained in resolving them,
  • a blessing to others in that I can now help them with what I learned from a problem similar to theirs,
  • and a blessing to prevent others from suffering by learning from my experience.

And so, you can also turn your problems into blessings. Compost them and harvest wisdom and strength.

When I have gotten depressed or upset or frustrated with a problem that was defying resolution, I have remembered the words of Judith Baldwin, wife of Dr. William Baldwin, founder of Spirit Releasement Therapy:

“And It Came to Pass……Away!”

While problems can be caused by ignorance (as in “what can go wrong?), not paying attention, ignoring the signals or your gut level instincts, inexperience, lack of knowledge or training, not considering the ramifications of each potential choice, over estimating your own abilities as in “fools go where angels fear to tread,” trial and error, or curiosity as in “I wonder what can happen if….”, I believe that problems are meant to be temporary. We can create them out of our recklessness or stupidity. But when they are assigned by the universe as in homework, I believe that are intended as a means to heal long, unaddressed wounds, to grow in mental, emotional and spiritual strength and to test that strength. They are the means by which we gain both in valuable experience and wisdom and heal on a deeper level. I am also reminded of a saying:

“Man meant it for evil, but God meant it for good!”

Simple Tool for Incredible Positive Change!

Dr. Joe Dispenza in this very short clip, “The Feeling Creates The Healing”, from a Heal Documentary explains why changing your thoughts and emotions is  critical to experiencing beneficial change in real life.

Whether you want to improve your luck, health, finances, success, relationships, appearance, emotional stability, or experience rapid positive change in any way, one of the most powerful ways to do this is through making a Positive Self-Talk Recording.

This technique is one that I taught to all my Self Hypnosis and Professional Hypnotherapy Training students. Write a positive self-talk script – all in present tense, using positive, specific and believable words – and record it with a buddy to be played every day. Directions follow at the end.

I am going to revisit this practice myself as in the wise oft-repeated mantra “Physician, heal thyself” because thoughts and emotions require continuous monitoring. Otherwise you can be led down a merry road of ego distortions and massive disruptions of your peace of mind. I like Joe Dispenza’s practice of sitting down to meditate each morning, and not getting up until he feels that he is the best person he can be that day. It is a practice worth emulating.

Becoming Master of Yourself main-lucy

As a child I was counselor to my playmates – aka Lucy from the Peanuts cartoon. My mother overheard me say to my friends when I was just 4 years old “you’re master of yourself.” Many of us as children have shown wisdom beyond our years. But the real task is not in just knowing a truth, but in retaining and living it on a daily basis throughout our lives. Becoming, personifying, living from our higher wisdom, our higher self is the goal. That is why I so respect Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work.

Instructions for Your Recording:

Accentuating the Positive and Eliminating the Negative

1. The first part of writing the script for your recording is to identify any detrimental emotions and the beliefs behind them. Start with the obvious and stay with the most important. You can address more later on.

Your Unlimited Potential, a self-hypnosis manual I list below, can be a great help to trigger your awareness of both positives and negatives, and how to write them. My dowsing book, Therapeutic Dowsing and Telepathic Healing, can also be used to ferret out hidden beliefs that are causing an issue later on when you are ready to dig deeper.

2. Write a releasing statement with the new belief you want to install instead. Look for evidence for why the new positive belief is actually true. Make a case for it. Blow the negative out of the water with at least 3-5 good reasons why you should accept the positive belief instead of the negative. You will know when you have written sufficient positive evidence when something shifts within yourself.

For example, if you feel unloved, you might say:

“I release any belief, perception or judgement that no one loves me. I release any need to believe that. I know that is untrue. I know I am loved by ____. Many people have shown that they like and care for me. John has shown that he cares about me by ____. Mary thinks I am funny and loves being around me . Even my dog loves me. He races to the door when I come home and covers me with kisses. My friends Susie, John and Tom all want to get together with me, and they wouldn’t do that if they didn’t really like my company.”

If you have already eliminated the negatives and don’t need to include it in your script, write one or more statements to remind yourself of the positive. This short phase you can repeat throughout the day anytime you need it. For example, “I am loved.”

3. Write everything good about yourself – your character, personality, smile, talent, skills, accomplishments. Include how you have made a difference in the lives of others and all the things for which you are proud. Write down all the nice things people have said about you. Ask your friends what they see in you. Ask them how they would describe you.

And as an aside, I recommend writing down and keeping some of these compliments highly visible – perhaps at your work station – where you see them often.

4. If you are aware of shortcomings, write

  • I am learning how to ____ (plan more carefully, allow more time than I think that I need to get to my appointments).”
  • “I’m becoming more ___ (patient, tolerant of others).
  • “I’m getting better at ___ (thinking before I speak, sleeping on it before I reply, taking 3 deep breaths whenever I feel my emotions starting to arise).”

5. When you are done with your script, record it, speaking slowly into a recording. Pause between sentences to let the words sink in. Speak with authority and confidence in your voice.

I strongly suggest that you get a buddy to record with you, repeating each of your phrases you wrote with the pronoun “I” either with your name or the pronoun ‘you’. Your buddy should read your script with enthusiasm and emotion and the belief that everything you have written is true. They may also want to add their own positive comments. Hearing good things about yourself from someone else is immensely powerful. And my students all said that this was one of the best things we did in class.

6. Finally, play your recording especially when doing things boring or routine as that is when you are already in a light altered state. Play it in the car. Play it as you are starting your day. Play it again as you are getting ready for bed. And especially play it when you are going to sleep on a loop tape because you will drift into a natural hypnotic state at that time.

The length of the recording is irrelevant. Change it, add to it, make new ones as appropriate. Write down a key reminder and paste it on your computer or dash of your car. Do it for 30 days and you will amaze yourself with the difference it makes!

Therapeutic Dowsing & Telepathic Healing

All sorts of unresolved trauma, drama and emotional residue siphon off vital energy needed to be healthy, happy, successful, productive, and vibrantly alive. Lacking the awareness, skills, time and/or energy to process, these things get shoved in the background where they get added to current stressors making life more difficult. What you think you got over may only have been buried yet still festering beneath the surface, draining energy, and causing trouble.

The Infinite Intelligence Process

For the past several years, I have been teaching others how to tap into the wisdom within both to solve problems with ease and grace, and to relieve stress in minutes with a modality that I developed and call The Infinite Intelligence Process. It can be used anytime, anyplace by ordinary persons to help themselves as well as by hypnotherapists and mental health professionals with sometimes profound results. Yet it is easy to both learn and apply through one of my short workshops or even right out of my book, Accessing More–Tapping Into the Wisdom Within with the Infinite Intelligence Process

What is this inner wisdom and how can you access it?

    • Have you ever had the experience of tapping into something More–more than you are aware of knowing or being able to do consciously?
    • And has this More allowed you the ability to accomplish the difficult with ease and grace?
    • Did it allow you to succeed even though success was considered unlikely or even impossible?
    • Was it there just when you needed it?
    • And did it solve a problem in the most perfect way?

fullsizeoutput_1d6Certainly, I have on multiple occasions, and I have heard the stories of others as well. Whether it is suddenly being able to solve problems that had previously defied solution, having creative breakthroughs, superhuman strength to save the life of another, or responding protocol perfect to a never before encountered emergency, people have amazed themselves and others when they have spontaneously accessed this greater wisdom, intelligence, strength, ability or knowledge. Sometimes it has come as a result of a necessity or out of nowhere during an emergency, and sometimes it has come in quiet moments after working on it for a prolonged period of time through normal conscious means and then letting their mind relax.

For example, I was awakened one morning with noise coming from my master bathroom. I found my five cats surrounding a copperhead snake that had gotten up into the ventilation system from the crawl space and pushed up the floor grate to get into the room. The snake was coiled up ready to attack, and kept rotating its head to watch each of the cats. What could I do? I had to protect my cats, prevent the snake from getting back down the floor grate and having access from the ventilation system to other parts of the house. I had to be sure to get it, dead or alive, completely out of the house without myself or my animals getting hurt. The way I responded turned out to be protocol perfect even though I had never been trained. How did I just naturally do everything right?

Another time, I found myself caught in a rip tide and rapidly pulled out to sea. I tried swimming to shore, but it didn’t work and I quickly got exhausted. I tried yelling and waving my arms for help, but those on shore didn’t notice and couldn’t hear me over the surf. I was getting wiped out with the waves and getting water in my mouth. Again, it seemed that I tapped into that something More to stay calm and focused on what I could do to stay alive.

Like a cat with nine lives, I have had many experiences starting from childhood that could have been dangerous, even fatal. I have also had many overwhelming responsibilities or pressures through which I sailed calmly. I have accomplished some amazing things with ease. You probably have done or know others who have done the same. Just google feats of superhuman strength and you will find many real life examples.

While necessity does motivate us to look deeper for ideas and strength, it certainly does not guarantee being able to do so as so many people blank or numb out, freeze or just panic. The questions for all of us are:

• How do we tap into that greater knowing, wisdom, ability or resources without it having to be an emergency, life or death situation?

• How can we tune into whatever it is that allows us to handle life with greater ease and grace on a regular basis?

• How can we routinely tune in and save ourselves a lot of time and energy, worry and frustration, fear and anger on or about upsetting events as well as ordinary everyday things–our job, relationships, daily life and responsibilities?

Some people may automatically jump to religious causation for all beneficial outcomes, and I do not dispute that miracles may occur. But it is my personal opinion that believing that all help comes from outside of us can actually limit the natural flow and development of what may inherently be an inside but undeveloped part of us. Instead, if we can consider that we are MORE than we think we are, we may be able to connect to the More that we truly are. I do not know or need to know where the demarcation ends of what is me at my highest and best and what goes beyond ‘me’.

Accessing More starts by adopting the open minded attitude that it is possible–that you are able to harness greater resources, wisdom and ability that go beyond the limitations of the ego and conscious mind, beyond the subconscious, to the spiritual dimension of the self that is further linked to an even greater consciousness. Start with a positive attitude and set an intention to do so.

Accessing More of both what is within and without is done below the level of conscious awareness. Simply quiet your mind, and go inside to the peaceful part of you, affirm your intention, and allow that inner something to do its work. This approach circumvents the ego, the mind games, circuitous thinking, internal and external blocks, and inhibiting energies that have prevented previous solution to the issue of concern. The process works to solve practical problems, relieve stress, and heal from long-standing issues–even sometimes those that have previously defied resolution. All aspects of your life can be addressed–mental, emotional, relationship, physical, financial, business, and spiritual.

This process can be used anytime, anyplace as a self-help tool by the ordinary person to help himself in real life situations. It can also be used for meditation, constructive self-programming, and in conjunction with other modalities. But hypnotherapists, dowsers, teachers, counselors, life coaches, energy healers, mental health practitioners, and others can also employ it as a full-fledged therapy. It draws upon the principles and practices of hypnosis, Neural Linguistic Programming, dowsing, meditation, prayer and many energy healing methods.

So what exactly is this More?

While it includes your subconscious mind that regulates all of your body functions, automatic behavior, physical, mental and emotional habits, directives and injunctions, beliefs, judgments, and memory, it goes beyond that. I believe that this More is primarily the eternal, infinite intelligence within you that is intrinsically linked to the ultimate consciousness behind all that is. Using this system increases your awareness that you are More than your ego, More than your body and local mind, and More than the individual, spiritual self that people call the soul, to something beyond.

Traditional religious circles say that this More is God, and exists totally outside and apart from the self, and is reachable through prayer, petition, ritual or sacrifice. Unfortunately, all too often prayers beg, whine, or plead in fear without really believing that help will come, or make things worse by focusing on the negative. Consequently, such practices can nullify such help.

Labeling or identifying this More is not important to access the benefits.

In fact, it can get you stuck and mired in mankind’s perpetual argument over philosophical and religious discussions that are, in the final analysis, unprovable and come down to a matter of beliefs. Whether right or wrong, true or false, your beliefs and attitude do make things easier or harder. So adopting a helpful attitude, a curious mind that holds a window of possibility when you desire to solve a problem or achieve a goal is crucial to your success.

The Infinite Intelligence Process is one way to tap into what I call More.

It helps you to adopt an attitude that will make things easier and flow more readily. It makes a big difference in processing overload and releasing stress, and it does so in a very simple way that you can do anytime, any place. Let me show you how you can quickly and easily tap into that incredible wisdom and resources within you on a regular basis!

When Goals Lack Luster

Confronting Your Malaise

Sometimes knowing what you want is fuzzy. Perhaps you have a vague feeling of wanting something more. Maybe you feel bored, stuck,  dissatisfied, restless or uneasy in your present situation, job, relationship, home, location. While some people just ‘suck it up’ and push forward with their normal routine anyway, thereby keeping their job and relationships intact, others self-medicate with food, booze, entertainment, etc. Some quit their jobs, leave their spouse, and go off to ‘find’ themselves and explore different options without any serious thought or destination in mind.

But staring your malaise in the face to clarify what is going on, and what you authentically want as opposed to what your family, society and the advertisers always hungry for your wages have programmed you to want, is something every adult needs to address in order to achieve real life satisfaction. Next follows the need to develop and follow a plan to make it happen.

External versus Internal Goals–what do you want?

Many times a person doesn’t achieve or follow through with their goals because they are not excited or inspired sufficiently to undertake the long-term and sustained action required for real achievement. Such goals may sound good. They may bring the approval of friends and family. While such goals may fall into the category of  being ‘practical’, ‘realistic’, socially respected, and lead to financial security, it is still important to tie anything to which you are going to be spending a lot of time, money, effort on doing to ultimately lead to deep, internal satisfaction for you. And while the road to your goal might involve learning and mastering a lot of things that do not interest you, it is doable IF you

keep your WHY in central focus.

For example, when I decided that I wanted to become an opera singer, the training required not only voice lessons, but piano lessons, music theory, learning foreign languages, dance and movement classes, memorization, and practicing vocal scales – the most boring of all. But I had supportive friends that sent me a card that inspired me. The card started with a fund-raising brochure put out by the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. The front pictured a legendary fat soprano with the words “The MET needs you!” To this, my friends put my name. So the card now read “The MET needs you, Roxanne”. This sat on my piano music stand encouraging me to do those ‘stupid’ scales. Oh, as postscript, I did go later to work at the MET first as Executive Secretary to the Orchestra Manager, and later singing onstage in the chorus multiple times with visiting reknown ballet companies.

What Mama (or Dad) Wants

Many parents insist that their offspring follow goals that they have chosen for them – doctor, lawyer, Indian Chief. These include academic, sports, or creative as well as professional pursuits.

For example, in my youth, many children were unwillingly pushed into music lessons and the daily practice. But even though the goal was external to the child, that child may have later developed their own joy of making music and pursued it willingly, developing enough skill to please themselves and others. And whether music became a professional pursuit later on or not, that forced musical education had multiple benefits in teaching self-discipline, striving for excellence, appreciation for music and creating something of beauty. It might have also become a satisfying hobby or part-time way of making additional money. The same can be true of other externally applied goals.

But long term, trying to live out someone else’s dream or goals for you tends to lack passion and backfire even if on the surface it sounds laudable and your head says that you should want it. Like so many New Year’s Resolutions, the work towards such goals peters out unless it is clearly seen as a means to an end you really want for yourself.

If the driving motivation of ‘nice’ or ‘should goals’ is external and not coming from inside your core self, knowing then how to communicate with your core self is hugely helpful to clarify the direction of your long-term and soul satisfying path.

Obstacles, or why don’t you have what you want already?

Perhaps, after embarking upon your own goals, you run into a problem or conflict you didn’t know you had. For example, in a hypnosis seminar, the instructor asked us all to visualize a personal goal as if we already had achieved it. Mine was to be able to buy a big, beautiful house. Initially thrilled imaging that this house was mine, I then noticed that I was quickly disquieted. Who was going to clean it? I have always disliked housework. I would have to hire people to help me, and this brought up an uncomfortable feeling of having ‘servants’, of being the employer, boss, of being on elevated position over others, telling others what to do. Where did this come from? Had resentment against the ruling class, of master versus slave, boss versus worker, lord versus peasant somehow creeped into my DNA from ancestors past? Had I identified from characters in books, history class or had I had unpleasant experiences in possible past lives?

Whatever the source, internal conflicts will always sabotage your efforts and have to be resolved.

But even once you know what the conflict is, you may not know how to resolve it. There may be aspects to achieving your objective that involve learning new things, developing knowledge or skills in which you have no interest or actively dislike. You may lack belief in yourself to overcome them. Such challenges may bring up past humiliation or pain.

You have to have a big enough reason to overcome challenges. Why do you want what you want?

Without a clear, driving vision of the end goal and the belief in yourself that you can overcome whatever challenges that come up, you will lose momentum. Obstacles have the potential of putting your dreams into the closet where they gather dust and die if you don’t have the tools, the belief in yourself, the motivation and vision to get through the challenge. Knowing how to brainstorm for solution is a big help here with dowsing being of major assistance.

Journaling for Goal Setting and Problem Resolution

Writing forces you to clarify things. Write down one question at a time and then attempt to answer it. If you don’t know how to dowse, journal. In journaling, write as if you were speaking bluntly with a trusted friend without any self-censorship. Then go back and reread everything you have written, rewriting it ever more concisely until you can sum up the essence into a short paragraph or sentence and you feel comfortable that you have ‘nailed it’. If not, keep writing until you do.

Challenge negative beliefs

Where you find negative beliefs or judgments, worry or fear, challenge them. Who says you can’t ____? Who says that it’ll never work? Instead, ask the question:

If it could work, how would it work?

Every goal has challenges, and every challenge is a call for you to rise to the occasion and grow. Going through the process leads to increased abilities, confidence, self-esteem and a real feeling of accomplishment.

fullsizeoutput_2cAnother way to resolve your malaise is to just focus on a question in meditation or self-hypnosis and let it roll around in your mind without needing an immediate answer. I do this through the Infinite Intelligence Process, which is a modality I have put together in a book entitled Accessing More – Tapping Into the Eternal, Unlimited Self with the Infinite Intelligence Process.

Under the section called ‘Connect’, there is the opening phrase, “There’s a part of me that knows _____, and that part is _____ (guiding me now, bringing that information into conscious awareness, assisting me to do this in a way in which I am really pleased, etc.).” Here again, just allow yourself to drift into a meditative/self hypnotic state. Hold the question in mind without needing an answer. Over time, your subconscious mind will bring things to your attention, and synchronicities will occur.

Below are some sample questions to ask:

  • Why am I feeling ____ regarding ____?
  • What is underneath this feeling of _____?
  • If I could support myself anywhere, where would I want to live?
  • How could I support myself living in ____ (name of location)?
  • How could I support myself doing ____ while living in ____?
  • If I could support myself doing anything I like, what would be most satisfying to my soul?
  • What does my spirit want to do ____ (now, short term, long term, as my life’s work)?
  • What kind of work can I do right now that would help me to eventually be able to do/become ____ in the future?
  • What kind of work is most in keeping with my soul desired life’s path?
  • What kind of work combines my main interests and abilities?

Writing Dowsing Charts and Checklists

Finding the right answers starts with asking the right questions.

In my opinion, dowsing is the fastest way to gather information, determine the underlying dynamics, and solve problems of any sort. Start with writing down your question on the top of a page. Next, brainstorm possible answers in a list format or spread out in a fan or circle format. Include the word ‘other’.

If you are working with a list, then turn the page to the side so the widest part of the page is on the horizontal line. Without looking at the words, but either with relaxed eyes staring into space, or focused at the bottom of the page, hold the pendulum in your hand and let it pull your hand in the direction of the appropriate line. Then look, and read what it says.

For example, if you were trying to figure out your emotions, you would list possible emotions, including the word other. Then you would ask:

  • What is the main reason I am feeling ____ about ____?
  • What is the next main reason I am feeling ____ about ____?

Continue, until there are no more emotions indicated.

Next, because emotions come from beliefs, judgments or thoughts, write a list of possible ones, such as “people should (or shouldn’t) do ____”. Then dowse:

  • What is main thought or judgment underneath this feeling of _____?
  • What is next main thought or judgment underneath this feeling of _____?

Keep brainstorming and dowsing until you have a complete picture. Then work on addressing/healing any issues uncovered. Some of this work will entail straight forward problem solving, such as the below:

  • Who can help me with ____?
  • What are my next steps? (dowse out priorities)
  • Is anything preventing me from moving forward with this?
  • How motivated am I to do what it takes to accomplish this goal?
  • Do I have any fears or limiting beliefs that ___ (are likely to, could) sabotage me in achieving this? If you get a ‘yes’, brainstorm what they might be and dowse out.
  • How can I make this required task easier, interesting or even fun?

Working below the level of conscious awareness

In some cases, you will not identify the cause of your malaise or failure. I then suggest  turning over the healing/resolution to what some call the ‘healer within’ or one’s spiritual dimension. I do this again with the Infinite Intelligence Process as listed earlier, “There’s a part of me that knows… and is doing so now.”

But there is another part to that process that is called “Process”. It installs a stress management program either with dowsing, meditation or hypnosis and then turns the healing over. For example, “From the perspective of my High Self, process and ____ (heal, clarify, release, resolve) ____ in a way in which I am really pleased.” If I am doing this with dowsing, I add “Take action now with the pendulum, and let me know when it is complete.” Both techniques are fully described in my book Accessing More–Tapping Into the Wisdom Within with the Infinite Intelligence Process.

In conclusion,

Overcoming malaise and obstacles in reaching your goals is made infinitely easier when you have a big enough ‘why’, when they are your goals, and you work with your inner resources every step of the way. I look forward to hearing about your own journey.
